Subject: EFS Experience
January 19, 2007
Here is my experience in using the EFS-100 after severing the tendon of the long head of the biceps muscle in my right arm. Within a couple days of the injury, I began doing 30 minute sessions on the EFS which resulted in a noticeable decrease in swelling and an increase in the mobility of my shoulder joint. Opting for reattachment of the tendon, I underwent Biceps Tenodesis surgery 10 days after the injury occurred. Limited to only gentle passive motion while immobilized in a sling, I resumed using the EFS 4 days later. During each session I experienced drastic advances in passive movement range and a favorable decrease in swelling. After 5 1/2 weeks I was cleared to remove the sling and start gentle active arm motion; the surgeon was impressed with the range of motion I had achieved while in the sling. I spent the next 2 days trying to straighten my locked elbow with very limited success. Finally, I got back on the EFS the next morning and within a few minutes I could get to within 5 degrees of full elbow extension; the immediate range of motion improvement was equally impressive in my shoulder. At the initial physical therapy appointment I was told my range of motion was excellent and that my rehabilitation was ahead of the curve. I attribute the accelerated success of my recovery to the EFS-100 and would recommend it to anyone faced with joint surgery.
